Macquarie Valley Blinds & Awnings

Macquarie Valley Blinds & Awnings is a locally owned and family-operated business founded in 1991 by Phil and Trish Shields. The founders' children, Lauren and Todd, work in the business. It has served Dubbo and the Central West for over 35 years. The business manufactures and installs custom made interior and exterior window furnishings and screen doors, and installs all of its products throughout the Central West of NSW.

It offers a free measure and quotation service and provides guidance and support over the phone for DIY installs. Purchases come with a satisfaction guarantee. Its service area includes Dubbo and the Central West region, including Narromine, Trangie, Warren, Nyngan, Cobar, Bourke, Gilgandra, Coonabarabran, Coonamble, Walgett, Dunedoo, Merriwa, Coolah, Mudgee, Wellington, Orange, Peak Hill, Parkes and Forbes.

Plantation shutters, roller shutters, Zip Track blinds and external awnings dominate the work described by customers of Macquarie Valley Blinds & Awnings. Across the feedback, a recurring theme is the calibre of the finished product: shutters that markedly cut summer heat, roller shutters and blinds that glide smoothly, and awnings built to withstand strong winds. Several reviewers name Phil, Todd Shields, Trish and Dee, commending their friendliness, patience and product knowledge, and noting that recommendations were tailored to unusual designs and specific sun and wind exposure rather than a standard approach.

Clear quotes, fair pricing and punctual, professional service come up often, including an account of new skins fitted to awnings that had first been put up well over a decade earlier. Customers describe tidy installation work and dependable follow-up, and repeat business is common, with several people returning for second or third projects. Electric Holland blinds, Wire Guide awnings and manual roller blinds all feature in the accounts, along with praise for careful measuring that ensured each awning suited its intended position, and for advice that kept working parts easy to operate.
