Shaderunner - Retractable Shade Systems

Shaderunner is a family owned and operated business that produces retractable shade systems, awnings, and outdoor blinds. The Shaderunner retractable sail system was developed from over 50 years of sailing experience. The Shaderunner was developed in Adelaide during the 1980s by father Haydn and sons Mark and Wayne Soulsby, and was originally named SHADEFORM SAILS. The Shaderunner is made in South Australia and Australia. The system has been refined and re-developed for over 30 years.

The Shaderunner is typically supported by two stainless steel wires. Aluminium cross supports within the fabric enable the sail to reach a maximum width of 6.5m. Ronstan marine grade ball bearing pulleys are attached to the cross supports and run along the wires. The Shaderunner is operated by a simple endless cord system that extends or retracts the sail. The control cord is secured around a sailing type horn cleat on a post or wall. The Shaderunner travels along the support wires in a concertina fashion and stacks back in the retracted position.

The Shaderunner won an Australian Textile Fabrication Industry Award and has completed over 5000 installations. The Shaderunner is suitable for swimming pools, courtyards, decks, and entertaining areas for both residential and commercial applications, and is used at Miami Aquatic Centre, QLD, in aged care and community centres, in cafes, restaurants, hotels, and accommodation, for pool shading, around the home, and for commercial shade settings.

Shaderunner - Retractable Shade Systems supplied a Shaderunner Trax Pergo retractable shade system for a sporting club, an installation one customer found simple, strong and effective, with the company handling the design, engineering and commissioning as well.

Another reviewer required a made-to-measure shade sail that could be drawn out or pulled back over a swimming pool as a floating arrangement, allowing daytime use of the water shielded from the sun. The work covers retractable shade for clubs and private pools alike.
