Shades
About the company
SHADES was started 30 years ago by Kerry Cummings, selling blinds from a showroom in Auburn Village. SHADES remains a family-run business, now run by Kerry's sons Andrew and Patrick. SHADES has spent 30 years cultivating relationships with some of the world's top fabric houses and shutter manufacturers. SHADES offers blinds, shutters, curtains, and awnings for private homes and commercial spaces.
SHADES' solid timber shutters are made to measure and fitted to the millimetre. SHADES' folding-arm awnings use cutting-edge German engineering. SHADES' motor mechanisms come direct from Somfy. SHADES' professional installation team handles delivery, fitting and final sign-off in-house. SHADES has supported The School of St Jude for the past 10 years. SHADES supports local not-for-profit Koala Kids Foundation with logistical support, donations and volunteering.
What customers say
Based on genuine customer reviews
Maddy is repeatedly named for putting together curtain and shutter solutions at Shades, including advice on double-lining curtains for blackout in a nursery. Andrew is credited on both consultation and, alongside Ben, on shutter and motorised vertical screen awning installation, while Richard is separately called a perfectionist installer. Several customers describe using Shades more than once, returning for further shutters or curtains after an earlier job.

A 10/10 experience with the Shades team. From sourcing the most beautiful linen fabric selections, to discussing the different functionality options and installation. Thank you
Wonderful expertise and attention in helping to select the right product. Customer care and responsiveness is very high. The final products and installations are also very good. Very happy with the outcome. The only aspect to improve is the implementation phase with a little more reliability.
Andrew and the team at Shades are wonderful to work with. We've collaborated with them on several projects but most recently our LOLA Debut Homes. We have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone seeking exceptional products and service.
Fantastic Job Shades. AC was delightful to deal with and prompt efficient service. James the installer did a professional job of installing blinds. I could not be happier with the Shades team and I recommend Shades to anyone needing any of their service.
We used Shades to provide our curtains and roller blinds for our newly renovated home. We genuinely appreciated the time and effort the staff took to understand our requirement and the installations were done with great care and expertise. We simply love our window furnishing and would have no hesitation in recommending Shades to anyone.
We recently had a retractable awning fitted in our courtyard. The whole process from start to finish was first class - highly professional, direct & open communication, a seamless installation, and a terrific end product. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking.
We have had a wonderful experience with Shades. We arranged shutters for the study, nursery, and living room, and french linen curtains in the nursery. I appreciated the team’s advice for styling. It was also suggested that we double line the curtain to black out the light. It’s practical (great for sleep) and looks elegant. The installations have all been efficient and of high quality. I’ve found the staff friendly and responsive. We’ve already put in an order for more shutters by Shades. Thank you Team.
